Hardly people know that her real name is not Tabu but Tabassum Fatima Hashmi and she belongs to an Islamic family. She is considered as one of the most accomplished actresses in India.
She did her film only at the age of 14, although she has not done any course for acting, but even today she is included in one of the best actresses.

Birth and Early Life of Tabu
Tabu aka Tabassum Fatima Hashmi was born on 4 November 1971 in the family of father Jamal Hashmi and mother Rizwana.
When Tabu was young, her parents got divorced. She hates her father ever since her father left her and never wants to see him again in her life. For them his mother is his father.
He was born in a teacher’s family. His father Jamal Hashmi was an actor and mother was a school teacher. His maternal grandparents were retired professors who ran a school. His grandfather, Mohammad Ahsan, was a mathematics professor, and his grandmother was a professor of English literature.
Due to no connection with the film world, he got the opportunity to act in films very late. His only hope was his aunt Shabana Azmi, then a film actress.
Tabu also has an elder sister who has worked as an actress in films. Earlier, her elder sister Farha rocked the films but could not maintain stardom. Farha left Bollywood after marriage and settled in married life with Dara Singh’s son. Tabu entered after Farha left films.

Tabu did her early studies from St. Anne’s High School, Vijayanagar Colony, Hyderabad. After that she moved to Mumbai in 1983 to complete her further studies and joined St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai from where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in electronics.

Tabu and Sanjay Kapoor
Sanjay was cast opposite Tabu in his first film Prem. The two started dating during the making of their film. During the shooting, both of them lived together for most of the time and were enjoying their life.
But all of a sudden what went wrong between the two, due to which suddenly there were cracks in their relationship as both the actors had stopped talking to each other by the end of the shooting of the film.
Sajid Nadiadwala and Tabu
After the death of actress Divya Bharti, his sympathy turned into love for Sajid. Before Divya Bharti’s death, Tabu and Sajid were just good friends.
The real love between Sajid Nadiadwala and Tabu started when she was working as an actress in the film Jeet directed by Sajid.
The two spent a lot of time together during the shooting of the film and in fact they started dreaming of marriage with Sajid. But Sajid was hesitant to commit to him as he still had feelings for his wife Late Divya.
He asked Sajid several times to forget his past and start afresh with their new relationship. Sajid stuck to his decision and in the end both also ended.

South star Akkineni Nagarjuna entered as the third person in the life of Tabu, who was betrayed by her first boyfriend. But his affair with Nagarjuna was very painful.
Nagarjuna was already married when he started dating Tabu. After a long ten years with the married man, she realized that he was not going to leave his wife. Because Nagarjuna was already married twice and he was in no mood to get married for the third time. This made him realize that he would never be able to get the status of a wife in his life.
Thinking of this, Tabu made up his mind to break a 10-year relationship with him and later ended his relationship with Nagarjuna as well.

Tabu has never liked partying. She does her work and goes back home. If anyone in the Bollywood industry is his best friend, it is Ajay Devgn and Farah Khan. He says that he is the most comfortable in Farah’s house.
Tabu shares a very special bond with Ajay Devgan. They have been neighbors of each other since the beginning. Both also studied together from the same college and during their college, Ajay did not allow any boy near him. Even if someone tried to come near him, Ajay would beat him up.
Recalling the old days, in an interview to Mumbai Mirror in 2017, Tabu had said:
“Yes, Ajay and I have known each other for 25 years. He was a neighbor and close friend of my cousin Sameer Arya, who was part of my growing up years and that laid the foundation for our relationship. When I was young, Sameer and Ajay would spy on me, go after me and threaten to beat up any boy caught talking to me. He was a big badass and if I am single today, it is because of Ajay. Since then, Tabu never looked back and acted in films like Virasat, Hum Saath-Saath Hain and Chandni Bar.
Break and return movies –
He took a break from Bollywood for three years and returned to Bollywood with the blockbuster film Toh Baat Pakki. Although the film was a blockbuster at the box office, his performance was highly praised.
